Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting!
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where I graduated from McNeil High School and then attended Texas A&M Commerce, where I graduated with a BS in Global Communications. I have been riding since I was 7 years old, and currently have over 20 years of experience with barrel horses, with over 10 of those years being competitive experience.
Despite my education being very important to me, riding horses remained a key part of my life. Coming from a family that didn't know anything about horses or rodeo, I spent a lot of time doing extra footwork to learn all that I could. During college I interned for Bo and Randa Kellogg, where I learned a tremendous amount about the foundational requirements in order to train a successful barrel horse. I also spent 6 months working under cutting horse trainer Bill Colclasure in Depew, OK. After graduating college I returned to corporate America in beauty industry sales, and continued riding and competing on my own horses. I acquired my WPRA card and earned a small amount of winnings at professional rodeos before losing my mare "Martha Ole" in a tragic accident in 2015.
I continued to ride young horses while working my full time day job, occasionally taking in outside horses as my time allowed and riding with fellow mentors in the meanwhile, especially Janet Staton. In 2018 I made a leap of faith to take a full time intern position working for Futurity Trainer Joy Wargo. My fascination with futurity horses and the process of building and training a barrel horse from start to finish really pushed me to make this decision. It was definitely a decision that changed my life! I spent a year and a half working under Joy, and gained priceless knowledge that has made me a better rider and horsewoman.
I returned home in March of 2020 to begin the process of gathering my own outside horses and clientele. In the meanwhile I also began working full time for top 50 all time futurity trainer, Janet Staton. Janet has always been a tremendous influence on my barrel racing career as a role model and mentor, and it is an honor to continue to work alongside her as a colleague and learn more. I plan to continue working for Janet, and riding my own outside horses and developing my training program with her help and guidance. She has been so generous to me and my horses, and I am grateful for her expertise.
My passion is young horses! Building a barrel horse from start to finish is one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced. Every horse presents a new and wonderful opportunity for us as horsemen to be better and learn more. That is the beauty of horse training; you are never done learning. My program focuses on continue education of the rider for the benefit of our equine athletes, and that is very important to me. I am so grateful for the many blessings horses have given me, and I hope that you to get to experience them like I have at least once in your lifetime!
Thank you so much for visiting, and God bless!
